Alex Yarde & son play with the Worlds Smallest RC Helicopter!
Growing up I loved toy helicopters, but when I was a kid there was nothing as reasonably priced or responsive as the Silverlit Nano Falcon! It holds the Guinness World Record Title for the Smallest RC Helicopter! It’s just 65mm and weights 11g! Despite being so tiny, this little helicopter functions as well as larger models, has a tough frame that can take a large amount of force on impact and is great for those kids (and adult reviewers) learning the ropes who crash everything repeatedly.
The Nano Falcon comes in a compact case that includes the Helicopter, Transmitter, spare Tail Rotor Blade, tool for Tail Rotor Blade Replacement and the instruction manual. This awesome helicopter is great for kids because they can crash it and it is ready to fly again. It’s a good thing it’s so sturdy because flying the Silverlit Nano Falcon helicopter has a learning curve. You will crash. A lot. Once my son and I got the hang of it we could make it go forward, backward, up, down, left, right and hover. It was a steep learning curve primarily for me because my giant hands aren’t as dexterous as my sons and the controls take a deft touch, but once we figured out the proper way to lift off and trim the flight without moving forward it was a joy to fly. It is strictly an indoor use copter. Any wind even a fan or AC ducts can disrupt your flight and long hairs can be an issue unwinding if they get caught in the rotor. We flew ours mainly in our hallways, which have wood floors, so keep that in mind.
The other great thing about the helicopter is that there is no assembly required, It charges directly from the Transmitter which is convenient, you just install 4 AA batteries into the transmitter plug the tiny chopper into the transmitter, charge it and you’re ready to fly. Having huge sausage like digits like me doesn’t help, as the tiny post you plug the helicopter in seems fragile. Again, having a young co pilot is key. The helicopter can operate for about 4-5 minutes per every 20-30 minutes charging. Before recharging the battery the manufactures suggest you wit 10-15 minutes for it to cool down. We followed the guide lines however it eats AA batteries so as you are learning make sure you have extra batteries on hand. You get a respectable amount of flight time once you figure out the controls.
THE BOTTOM LINE: It’s a great little toy, which has some pros & cons.
PROS: Sturdy construction; it’s flies well indoors. (After some practice) this thing has surprising stability to maneuver into very tight corners plus it can hover in mid-air like larger more expensive models. It has 3 channels and conveniently charges from the Transmitter. It’s a great value it lists at $44.00 but if you shop around on line you can find it cheaper. And the “Wow” factor is considerable because it’s so unbelievably tiny!
CONS: Power source drains quickly with repeated charges which you’ll need of you aren’t familiar with model helicopter controls and if you have large hands it will take some patience to get a handle on maneuvering.
I’d definitely recommend it as a great gift for kids or adults that already have some experience flying RC helicopters. This is an incredibly fun and well-made RC Helicopter!
