Flood the Drummer® presents ‘Blizzard Beats 2016’
—
The recommendation from Philadelphia Mayor, Mr. Jim Kenney, on Friday afternoon ahead of a massive blizzard targeting the east coast, was to stay indoors and watch Netflix or Pay-Per-View.
15 inches of snow fell on the City Friday night into Saturday morning, with more on the way. I had, nor have, any intentions of traversing through the City with so much snow on the ground, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t going outside. Playing in the snow, as a child was one of my favorite things. Drumming at length, during a blizzard, as a millennial, was sort of a dream.
On Saturday afternoon, unaware of my neighboring spectators—but not surprised considering that everyone is indoors—I took my trusty little maple-wood drum set, the same set of drums I used as a part of a keynote speech in 2013 at the ReGenerate Philly Summit, outdoors to play a myriad of ‘Blizzard Beats.’
