Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes reboot was lacking if anything, now see the trailer that does it justice.
The original Planet of the Apes is usually considering a defining entry into the category of science fiction. It boasted none other than Charlton Heston and some audacious special effects for the time all culminating in a movie that has permeated culture and still gets nods from movies almost fifty years later. Its fame brought a few sequels and as of late several reboots, one of which was directed by the infamous Tim Burton. Like it or love it the folks behind the YouTube channel Screen Junkies have given Burton’s remake an “Honest Trailer” and perfectly capture the movie with all its flaws.
Tim Burton is always hailed as eccentric in his movie making but this is usually backed up by some remarkable works of art that are revered among critics and large fan bases. His reboot of Planet of the Apes didn’t fare so well and ended up being one of his less memorable movies. If anything it brings into contrast the quality that the 2011 Rise of the Planet of the Apes finally gave to the series and serves as a good promo for the upcoming release of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes on July 11th.
