Today is Father’s Day. The one day of the year when all dads get to be thanked for all the work they do for their kids. It is a cherished day that really means a lot to fathers no matter what age they are. Rico Pabon has written a song that helps bring light to this glorious day. It is a really good and all dads should check it out.
Rico Pabon is a musician who enjoys Hip Hop the most, but has released songs that can follow many different genres. You may see him singing a capella alone, or with a band of ten or more musicians. He has played in small crowds and huge arenas. Music is something he has a deep love for, and has the potential to add more flavor to the soundtrack of our lives as he likes to put it.
Rico was born into a family of musicians and dancing and playing music was just a normal part of life for him. Rico found a voice as an emcee at the age of 15 and since that time has released 5 full albums and appeared on many collaborations and compilations. Rico is a natural performer who brings an energy on stage that is is explosive and captivating. Rico says “I feel like it’s my personal mission to stand for positivity no matter what mainstream folks are doing. I usually start my shows off a cappella, because I want the people to know that I’m trying to uplift their spirits and speak to their hearts, not just put words together and make them sound good.”
Currently Rico is gigging as an emcee poet and singer with two Bay Area legends John Santos who is a 5 time Grammy nominated Latin jazz artist and Linda Tillery who is Grammy nominated where he also plays percussion. But no matter what configuration Rico finds himself in, his poetic lyrics are bound by the theme that struggle feeds beauty and that life is worth fighting for using truth and love as the weapon. This theme with his rhythmic delivery make him one of the Bay Area’s most dynamic MCs. His first album
“No More Patience” came out in 1994 and he has released some hot tracks since then. His most recent compilation with Linda Tillery “Freedom Time” in 2011 is exceptionally powerful and has some great messages to it. He is a one of a kind artist and his tunes have the potential to speak to everyone.
