A film that looks at the later years in life, new beginnings, taking risks and having fun along the way.

This is a different kind of comedy, one not centered around the younger generations. No, this looks at life when you are older and more mature. The characters still live amazing lives, and many of them have much to still do and accomplish. They have jobs to work, love that they desire and in India they have the chance to do these things and more. It is a hilarious movie and one that people should go and see.
The film is a sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which came out in 2012 and turned out to be a surprise hit. Some of the cast has returned, but a there are a few new faces too. Evelyn and Sonny are together again, but this time they want to open a second hotel to help this wonderful business venture grow. The first hotel has been a huge success with most of the guests staying for months at a time. These guests have different jobs, and have really grown fond of this beautiful country. Sonny is also getting ready to be wed soon, so there is a good amount of stress in his life right now.
One day a mysterious man comes to stay at the hotel, someone who has never been seen there before. Sonny doesn’t trust him right away, but Evelyn decides to let him stay. There is supposed to be someone coming to check out the hotel to see how things run there and if they will get a loan for the new hotel they want to open. Sonny thinks he is the inspector, but this man says he is a writer. He is there for research on a new book, but there is no proof. Why is he there? Will they get the loan for the hotel? And with some many things going on, will Sonny have any time to prepare for his wedding?
Dev Patel is the person who makes this a great movie. He is silly, odd and you would think in this hotel he is out of place, but somehow he fits in perfectly. Dev and Judi Dench have many hilarious moments together, and even though they are so far apart in age they just are a perfect match. Dev loves to lighten the mood in a scene, and when things get bad he works off the drama and anger too. His character Sonny is a busy high strung man who just wishes life was easy, but that just isn’t the case. It would be great if it really was though huh?
The film has a beautiful soundtrack that brings the entire village to vivid life. The sets are amazing; the wedding scene is so full of color that it will be sure to stimulate all of your senses into overdrive. The cast had a blast making this film and move this film making it a fun ride to the finale. There are some surprises along the way and some moments that are guaranteed to make you smile and maybe even shed a tear or two.
For these reasons this film gets a 7/10. It is a good film, but not one that will be worth multiple viewings. It is also a film that young people will have a tough time relating to with the whole cast being older. There is not something for everyone here either, but it is a film that certain ages will be sure to enjoy.
If you are looking for a fun film to see with your family, this is the film to go and see. If you want to see comedy that is out of the ordinary, this is the film for you. It is a good film to see with a date, and one to see with your parents too. But it is not a film kids will like, and one that some people will want to wait to see.
