Chris Evans fights to save the world in a very different way in Snowpiercer.
This coming Friday, June 27th, we will finally see the US release of Snowpiercer. If you haven’t heard of it don’t worry, its a relatively obscure South Korean film that has a pretty substantial cast list and a wild plot. The film is based upon the French graphic novel “Le Transperceneige” and was adapted for the silver screen by award winning Korean director Bong Joon-ho.
Snowpiercer takes place upon the titular train that houses what is left of humanity after an experiment gone wrong that has plunged the world into another ice age. The train is divided in a caste system where the foremost carriages carry the upper classes while the end carriages make up the slums. Curtis Everett (Evans) is among the terribly oppressed lower class at the rear of the train and decides to lead a revolt against the elite of the forward carriages ruled by Minister Mason (Tilda Swinton) and Wilford (Ed Harris).
The movie has fared well with critics both foreign and within the US, and now it will be time for the rest of us to weigh in once we see it. The premise might sound a little “made for TV” but Snowpiercer certainly looks to be entertaining at the very least.
