New Faces, Familiar Ones and a stronger threat make for one heck of a thrilling ride
Star Wars has become a very popular series. It has expanded into video games, books and a few cartoon series. It is something that fans of all ages can enjoy and it spans generations. It has been a long time since audiences have gotten something new as far as movies but that is finally going to change. The story continues and here is what this writer thought of this movie.
It has been thirty years since we last saw our heroes. The Empire has fallen and that is only some of the changes that have happened. There is sadly a new evil in the galaxy known as the First Order and their plans are worse than anything the galaxy has seen before. Our story actually begins though with a woman who lives on a small desert planet who goes by Rey (Daisy Ridley). Through an odd number of circumstances she bumps into Finn (John Boyega) and they become fast friends. This pair ends up finding Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew). Rey has a new little robot friend who goes by BB-8 and together they hope to try to stop the new order before they take over the galaxy. Han has to ask General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) for help and hopefully they can join together to become a force for good. Yet Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) will not be easy to stop with their huge army of troopers and weapons that defy your imagination. What are the plans of the First Order? Is there anyway the rebels can stop them for good? And who is the person running this new evil force in the galaxy?
If you liked the original trilogy then you will love this movie. It takes a lot of elements from these films and expands on them tenfold. A ton of familiar faces show up that can be easy to miss but when seen will take you back to those wonderful movies. There is a ton of mystery surrounding a few of the new characters and some of the older ones that will keep everyone excited right down to the final scenes. The film has a ton of great fight scenes and a few really good surprises along the way. It is truly the best Star Wars movie to ever come out and it is fans shouldn’t miss out on seeing.
This movie deserves 10/10. With a cast that has come together to create something magical and special effects that make sense but are not overused this is a perfect movie. The plot runs like a smooth river that sometimes will be rough and yet it leaves nothing out and it spins a splendid narrative. The score is amazing and brings the extra elements needed to add to the emotional times or the surprises that happen along the way. There is nothing bad this writer can say about this movie, it has something for everyone to enjoy.
If you love Star Wars then you must go and see this movie. If you are eager to see what has happened since last we left the series this is the way to find out. If you are looking for a good film to see with the family this is the picture to pick. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out now.

and if so, sounds like Episodes VIII & IX will have a pretty high bar to clear too. Glad you enjoyed it- looking forward to seeing it myself- in a week or two (as my own ‘after-Christmas’ present): A new Star Wars saga for the new year – Happy New Year, and may the Force be with you!
