I wear my mask daily but luckily I am changing my life to become my mask. I WANT to be the confident, happy guy.
Good post though I disagree. The masks we wear are the ones we choose to put on. Our pain is our own, how we choose to express that pain to the world is totally dependent on ourselves. My pain shapes me and defines me by how “I” decide to let it. That doesnt diminish the fact of how it affects me, it just puts the power in my pocket in how I let it define me.
Wow, Jacobtk. So eloquently put and succint. Sometimes, facades are neccessary because not everyone is ready to accept what you’ve been through even when they say they do. I know, cynical outlook.
I think, in ways, Superman is the same: An alien orphan displaced on planet Earth, parents and world destroyed, has to put on “Clark Kent” to cloak his identity because people still aren’t able to accept who he is underneath. You think so, Jacob?
I think Superman is a different. I think Superman is a different than Batman. Superman is not Superman or Kal-El; he is Clark Kent. He acts like a bumbling bumpkin to throw everyone off, but he really does think of himself as Clark, and probably thinks of himself as an earthling more than a krytonian.
