In this final chapter there is much that will happen before the series comes to a close
Right now in Hollywood a trend is happening. One that fans cannot ignore, some series of books that have been made into movies have reached their end. This happened with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and now it is happening to the Hunger Games. This writer got to see the end to the series himself and here is what he thought of it.
Since the last film Pan Em is in a full scale revolutionary war. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) wants nothing more than to confront President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and end the war once and for all. Katniss teams up with Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), Cressida (Natalie Dormer) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) on a mission to liberate the citizens of Pan Em and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who wants Katniss dead by any means necessary. Even though the rebels and some past victors now control most of Pan Em there is still one more challenge that our hero must overcome to win President Snow’s latest “game’ which is to conquer the Capitol. With new mortal traps, enemies and moral choices the Girl on Fire will be challenged more than any arena she dealt with in the Hunger Games. She will come to the realization that the stakes are no longer just for her survival but for the future of all of Pan Em.
This was a well made movie. The cast come together again and bring all the intensity and drama that befits an popular series. There is a lot that has happened since the last movie and much that still needs to be done, and it can seem overwhelming at first to our heroes. Yet they know that together there is nothing they cannot do. Jennifer Lawrence brings a new level of Katniss here that shows a darker side of this character and not once does it seem forced or fake. The special effects are wonderful and bring all the dangers and new traps in a way that may have some people on the edge of their seats. The score is perfect and always finds a way to add that extra element that makes some scenes almost leap off of the screen.
This movie has earned 8/10. It is a good ending for this series but it does have a few flaws. The movie does have its share of twists and surprises but the final scenes were not a shock at all. There are moments that shape them and you would have to be blind to miss them. There are a few things that happen at the end of this movie that are cool but there was something missing. Also the epilogue was fitting but again nothing people couldn’t have noticed was going to happen, it seems inevitable really if you think about it . It was not the best movie based on a book series but overall it does a good job of bringing this story to life.
If you enjoyed the books you will want to see this movie. If you are looking for a good action packed drama then this is the movie to pick. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 gets released this Friday.
