About Asadullah Muhammad
Asadullah Muhammad is a poet and writer, born and reared in New York City by his Jamaican parents and grandparents. His ten-year career in education and youth development focuses primarily on the advancement of New York City court-involved and incarcerated youth, cultural rites of passage programming, and improving public and charter school education in the cities of Detroit, Atlanta, and New Orleans. His work (life) stretches the traditional "good black man" paradox, and challenges the static interpretations of masculinity and the intersections of same-sex attraction within Islam, Caribbean culture, and throughout the Black community. Asadullah is committed to co-parenting, fathering his three beautiful children, and living a life with integrity and without shame.
