His work focuses on the cultural and political history of postwar America, with an emphasis on issues of gender and sexuality. His in-progress dissertation examines the role of masculinity in shaping the national security state through an exploration of the lives and careers of J. Edgar Hoover, Joseph McCarthy, and Roy Cohn.
