I was born in New Orleans in 1949 and am 63 years old. I am licensed to practice law in Louisiana and Texas. My law office is at 2030 St. Charles Ave. where I specialize in maritime personal injury litigation on the side of the plaintiff. I am also affiliated with my daughter Erin Margolin's Gay Dad Project.
My husband, via our 2001 Vermont Civil Union, is Kory Chatelain. We have been together 21 years. Our residence is in Hattiesburg, MS. where I also have an office in my home. Kory is a retired engineer who assists me as an administrator in our home office.
I was married to Julie Best from 1971 until we parted in 1991. We have three children, Erin Margolin, a writer in Fairway, Kansas and stay at home mother of three, Mark Best, a lawyer practicing in New Orleans and father of two, and Kevin Best, a Metairie, La. entrepreneur. I am a active member of the Louisiana Forum For Equality and the Human Rights Campaign. I have been a gay rights activist since 1991.
