This is brilliant, thank you! I have personally been in a situation like this and was wanting to write about it but was thinking it may come off snarky or bitchy from a woman so really glad to hear it from the mouth of a man. I recently gave my number to a man on an online (mindful nonetheless which is quite funny actually) dating site within 5 minutes of getting an email from him with a “call me and lets chat” attached. I know when I hear someones voice if I want to take it a step further. He replied, via text, with an “ok, sounds great!” so I was stoked at receiving a call. Many texts later over the course of about 2 weeks, with me dropping hints like “well maybe we’ll actually speak sometime” I finally stopped responding. I think I was replying at first because it was fun but then it just became ridiculous. This is a man in his mid 40′s, successful, divorcee and father. REALLY???? YOU”RE TEXTING ME???? It left me with not such a nice feeling and then I finally just stopped responding as he was now sending me odd texts at late hours. Really dude?? Alright, I am a child of the 70′s myself and I understand the age we are living in but I am sorry, I do not believe chivalry is dead and that texting and all that other techy shyte is the way to go and if a beautiful woman gives you her number… CALL HER! Thanks again. I hope more men read this, of all ages, and realize it is not cool and or funny. After you are dating and have met in person sure but off the bat? Hell no.
forever grateful,
Kristan, the old school romantic
Food for thought:
If you’re interested enough in a person to keep texting them, should you call them if they ask?
and
If they won’t call you at all, is that a big red flag?
