This is a comment by Grey Aiken on the post “Chris Brown’s Twitter Deactivated After Tweet War with Comedy Writer“.

“Cheating on your partner is a moment of weakness. Beating the shit out of them is assault. He hasn’t paid for his crime. Anyone else would have been sent to prison for what he did. But more importantly, people still defend this asshole and support him. He should have been run out of show business, but people still support this dude as a cultural icon.
“You can obfuscate and try to prove how Chris Brown saying ‘eat a dick’ is the same as anyone else saying it. Chris Brown getting a tattoo on his neck that looks like Rihanna isn’t the same as anyone else getting it. Chris brown talking about sexual violence, especially to a woman, is not the same as anyone else doing it. Chris Brown going crazy on someone out of anger isn’t the same as anyone else doing it. Chris Brown intentionally talking about the woman he beat to within an inch of her life to win an argument is not excusable, in any context.
“It’s not about being provoked? Who cares if he was provoked? He’s supposed to be spending his time convincing us beyond any shadow of a doubt that he would never do something like he did to Rihanna ever again. Instead all he’s showing us is that he’s still a petulant child with a man’s body who’s not afraid of using any means at his disposal to hurt the people who challenge him.”

Really? I coulda sworn he was a musician, who should be spending his time creating and recording new songs. He doesn’t owe ‘society’ anything else whatsoever.
@Copyleft Yes you are on point – but it really does not matter. It’s moot because of all the noise you get with recess. Some have gotten new Skipping Tropes to play with and the Playground is overrun. Some are so breathless they can’t even speak sensibly and are so breathless with excitement they have to be corrected publicly by people like Whoopi Goldberg – which of course they dismiss because …. well …. Whoopi is Balck. Some may have missed that one! I have to wonder too why it keeps happening and also at this time of year. Is… Read more »
If he committed a crime he should pay for it (according the law, as everybody else) if he didnt then all this hype a waste of time. And if he was woman who acted violently toward her man it would have been a comedy exactly like sharon osbourne and the Catherine Kieu case.
Yes! Because all of the white males who have brutally beat their partners and lost their careers and were continually probed about their every comment have served countless number of hours, days, and years in jail. OH WAIT! No they haven’t! Yes, Chris Brown is an asshole, and YES the consistent media and social attack on him is nothing more than the continued narrative of labeling him as the angry Black man. You want to point fingers at famous abusers on a daily basis because they have not paid their debt, then let’s also point at- Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson,… Read more »
Another attack on someone who can’t fight back. The legal circus that was the “court” when both were guilty is another example about the prejudice against men. He is an singer so that is what he should be doing.
he has no duty to convince us of anything except the unfairness of the system.
Is there any reason to be worrying about Brown convincing any of us of anything? Who is this guy that we should pay him and his asshole actions any attention? If we ignore him–I never heard of him before this and hope not to hear of him, whoever he is, very much at all–maybe he’ll go away and we can concentrate on the important stuff like DWTS. The future of the Republic depends on it.
The problem, as I see it, is that the man is being tried in the court of public opinion rather than in a court of law. We, the public, end up thinking of ourselves as stakeholders in their relationship when we really are not. So we end up thinking that “Chris Brown is SUPPOSED to be convincing us beyond any shadow of a doubt that he will never do something like he did to Rihanna ever again.” That kind of distorts the situation. Perhaps being in the public eye makes it even more unlikely for Brown and Rihanna to actually… Read more »
What I mean to say is that it’s not us (the ordinary people) he should be convincing. It’s a judge. And the victims of his violent outbursts. (That would be the case in an ideal world.)
The problem, as I see it, is that the man is being tried in the court of public opinion rather than in a court of law. It’s not just that some are demanding that the Court Of Public Opinion Should be used for the Lynching – they are demanding that they also have full control over the Jury Selection, The Judge and can veto any witness they simply don’t like. Hell – they are even trying to deny the right to a defence and see A Writ of Habeas Corpus as a death certificate – Give Us The Body! It’s… Read more »

Harassers Charter?
All are equal before the law – except when some choose otherwise?
I get the anger – but the red mist is making some behave like they want a lynching and it’s uncivilised!
