It’s time to let go of the resistance.

This comment was by Bruce Stafford in reference to the post – Your Ego is Not the Enemy
This article describes more or less what I am going through. The “ego” as an enemy, or a boastful, deceitful and selfish child is a belief that has been all-pervasive in my personal journey. It seems I identified with all the negative input received in childhood, in education and later through seeking a spiritual connection. Ascribing my (learned) shortcomings to the ego made sense in the logic of my received context: “oh, that was my ‘ego’ causing those problems,” was the conclusion I had to arrive at.
Only, that part of me is innate. It was ‘reason’ that defined it as the source of all evil – à la biblical original sin and the concept of ‘sin’ in general. Learning to view ego as an automatic process makes more sense. It’s like getting in your own way physically (through tension, unconscious movement idiosyncracies and resulting lack of strength and flexibility where needed: you just can’t “go there” until you let go of the resistance.
Thank you very much for the supportive insight.
