This comment by Tsach Gilboa on the post From One Dad Who Lost a Child to Another: A Message to Richard Martinez About Honor
Forgiveness is the path to healing, as much as one can, after the loss of a child to violence and the building block of a safer, saner and more human society. Making guns unavailable to the many who should never have them, as well as making gun ownership a process of education, training, safety, background checks and limits on type and nature, with a national registry for tracking, is the prevention part we are sorely missing. Unfortunately without the latter, we will continue to have many more of the heart braking former, many more than we should.

Food for Thought:
Forgiveness and honor is critical to healing, but preventing gun violence via education, safety training, mental health help, reasonable gun control measures and limits is even more so.

What we need to work on is prevention. Preventing tragedies is far better than leaning to tolerate the pain of loss and life cut short. Let’s rally around prevention is the same way we are so good at rallying when tragedy occurs.
