A few weeks ago, the brilliant sitcom Community broadcast an episode character Pierce Hawthorne had to defeat a video game to claim his inheritance. In the modern vernacular, "it just got real."
Journey to the Center of Hawkthorne, the video game that Community's study group found itself in during the show’s season finale, is now a real, actual thing you can play. Windows, OS X and Linux versions of the game were created by developer Kyle Conroy and the very enthusiastic Community fan … uh, community … on Reddit.
The game isn't complete yet, but you can play as any of the main study group members — along with several supporting characters and alternate costumes — and you can certainly stomp some hippies.
More levels will likely be added as Journey to the Center of Hawkthorne grows more popular online. The fact that recently-deposed Community creator Dan Harmon thinks the game is streets ahead sure doesn’t hurt.
Don't let us hold you back, go on, download it and get playing.
