Shawn Henfling thinks we can all agree that Irena Sendler was a hero, but is consensus required?

We can probably all agree that this soldier is also a hero.
This guy too, in a big way.
But what about these guys? Plenty of folks consider them heroes, but not all.
And pro athletes? They are certainly heroes to some.
And Rosa Parks? Surely she’s a hero…right?
The first African American President in U.S. History…hero?
We’re treading on thinner ice here right? I think Miley is a hero to some.
And what about Caitlyn Jenner? Surely through her public transformation she has inspired someone.
Do we have to universally accept who is and who is not a hero and is that even important? Castigating someone because of their choice of hero is to judge them for something we may not understand. Instead of immediately forming a biased and uninformed opinion, instead ask why. You may be surprised by what you learn.
