As I hold your tiny foot in my hands I understand the wonderful responsibility I have undertaken. You have only just started your journey through life but know that I am here to shine a light on this path you will walk. I look at your foot and it has so many first steps yet to take, so many directions it may turn and I hope you will always remember that when your foot touches the ground I will be there for you no matter where it meanders.
When you take your first step I will be there to dust you off when you fall.
When you first traipse through the enchanted forest in our garden I will be your companion.
I look at your foot and it has so many first steps yet to take, so many directions it may turn and I hope you will always remember that when your foot touches the ground I will be there for you no matter where it meanders.

When you first march to school I will be there at the end of the day to help you make sense of it all.
When you first pace with frustration that you aren’t as good as some others I will show you just how wonderful you are.
When you first limp home I will be there heal your wounds
When you first parade your academic or sporting achievements I will be there to show you it is only the start of greater things to come.
When you first stroll with your romantic partner I will have already taught you how to be the adult you have almost become.
When you first saunter up to graduate I will be there to help you start your journey from my nest.
When you first circuit back home because sometimes life is harsh know that I will be there to hold you.
