Experiencing loss as only a mother and son could.
—
I am an only child.
I wonder how life will be if she was here.
I hear my mom crying on my shoulders.
I see the paramedics carrying her into the ambulance truck.
I want to know what actually happened.
I am an only child. I pretend like nothing happened.
I feel like she’s still with me.
I worry about my mom.
I cry with my mom when it’s May 5th because my mom and my sister have the same birthday.
I am an only child.
I understand that there’s a moment we will die.
I ask why she had to go so fast.
I dream about her and have nightmares.
I try not to think about it, or else I cry.
I hope one day I will see her again.
I am an only child.
