All that is needed for a man on the go—with baby in tow.

My wife’s diaper bag is very nice. My mother bought it for her after our baby was born a year ago. It’s roomy, it’s stylish and has been very durable. All that being said, I’m a little jealous of it. It’s clearly her diaper bag and when I carry it around I definitely feel like it’s on loan and not in any way my own. I hadn’t thought much of having a diaper bag of my own, but once I heard about diaper bags for men I knew I definitely would enjoy having one.
The men’s diaper bag from OiOi was just what I had been hoping for. First off all, it looks nothing like a diaper bag and nobody would suspect I’m toting diapers and wipes while I’m carrying it. It just looks like a really nice messenger bag. This bag could easily be used for work and travel and fits a laptop perfectly. Mine is made of black waxed canvas. This material has a nice feel and seems very water resistant and durable. There’s also a very cool leather version of the bag.
I packed my bag with all the things I can’t do without: Diapers, wipes (comes with a container for wipes), bottle (comes with a great insulated bottle holder), pacifier (has an internal carabineer you can clip it to so it never gets lost), butt cream (comes with a water tight zippered bag), blankey, toy, hat, sunscreen and change of clothes. I’ve been burned on more than one occasion by not having a change of clothes for the baby. I’ve also been caught in a poopapalooza where I needed a change of clothes for myself after changing the baby. Come to think of it, I’m putting a t-shirt of mine in here. The bag also comes with the requisite changing mat. It all fits while still feeling like a compact bag. It’s not hard to tell this bag was thoughtfully designed to be both practical and good looking. The closures for the main flap are magnetic and when overstuffed they don’t cling too well. I wish this had the same buckle closures that the leather version of the bag has. The pockets on the sides also zip vertically down the whole height of the pocket. I didn’t find this very practical at first, but then I got the idea to stuff a compact Kleenex container there and now I can unzip it and pull a Kleenex right out of the pack. I do still wish one side had a pocket with a top opening for quick access to a bottle or sippy cup. These are very minor nitpicky complaints and don’t at all interfere with my love of the bag.
I’ve really enjoyed having the bag. It’s been great when I’m taking the baby out on my own. I don’t have to worry about what’s disappeared from my wife’s bag. I know I have what I need and have room to store some of my own things like phone and camera. When I’m going out with my wife I also get satisfaction when my wife yell’s, “diaper bag!” and I’ve got it covered with my own around my shoulder. Not to overstate a diaper bag, but it makes me feel a little more connected to my kid and wife and I’m sure she appreciates not having this entire responsibility any longer. I actually wish I had it when my baby was younger as when she was a couple of months old I often felt the baby was all about mom. Next time you’re going to a baby shower, think about dad and a bag for him.
