100 Words on Love, by Sami Holden
–
I was far from home and very ill with a respiratory infection when I was admitted to a hospital.
Three friends stayed by my side the entire time taking shifts. They slept across wood chairs so I would never be alone. They searched out medical staff when my nurse button went unanswered and my health was quickly deteriorating. They walked a mile to bring me a “good meal” and not hospital food. They held my hand. They didn’t care if they got sick.
I’ve never been good at telling people I love them. What I have with those friends – that’s love.
