100 Words on Love, by Cameron Conaway
–
When you are gone I sleep between the sheets where you slept warm the night before. Because although I can’t be surrounded by you I can nestle into your indent and be surrounded with your scent. Because although I can’t be surrounded with you I can layer myself with the million little pieces you left behind in my memory and, yes, there, now I hear the cadence of your breath. When you are gone I carry on but I’m not strong like when you’re with me. When you are gone I carry on but I damn sure miss my fifty.
