100 Words on Love, by Chintan Girish Modi
–
I love hugging trees. People around me find it weird. I experience it differently. I love pressing my ear against the trunk of the tree, kissing the bark, thanking that magnificent being for shade, beauty and oxygen.
I don’t remember when I hugged my first tree. It could have been as a child, or during my teenage years. Somehow, it feels absolutely natural to throw my arms around a tree, and occasionally even whisper a thank you.
Folks who live in cities miss out on their loveliness. That’s why I love green spaces, shrines that have grown around trees, and rituals that worship nature.
