It’s late and Joanna asked me
to write a post about
what I’m thankful for.
This is what I came up with.
Jane Fonda in Barbarella. Followed closely by Caroline Munro in Starcrash.
Being born into a family where I was loved and cared for and where we make the effort to transcend our differences and always come together, rather than allow those differences to split us apart.
Social media allowing me to discover and become friends with people I never would have otherwise met.
Dolly Parton. Period.
Buying a pressure cooker.
Miley’s “Wrecking Ball”. Best single of 2013.
Masterchef Jr. The first thing I’ve ever seen that actually made me consider someday having children.
Knowing who I really am and being true to that, even when it means people accusing me of being a fraud, because I’m simply out of their realm of comprehension.
Anyone who makes me laugh.
That Alfonso Cuarón spent eight years working to amaze us with Gravity.
The promises the future currently holds.
Pork belly.
Sashimi. Especially mackerel.
Friends whom I have to meet out in real life because they refuse to join me on social media.
A job where–after almost a year–I have yet to find a downside.
Selfies that make me feel special and handsome in a way I never have before.
Roger Corman.
My Kindle, which allows me to read in the bathtub without having to hoist up heavy books or fear soaking my iPad.
Everyone who makes the effort to support me, even though they don’t have to.
Scandal.
Kerry Washington in Scandal.
Being able to sleep at night.
Whisky sours.
Everything else I left off this list because it’s late and Joanna asked me to write it at the last minute.
This is definitely one of my favorite lines in any GMP piece, ever:
“Selfies that make me feel special and handsome in a way I never have before.”
