Do you know these guys? Are you one of them?
So, group participation.
How many of you watched this and laughed?
How many of you silently looked at whoever was around (or on your screen) and started assigning people to each of these six categories?
How many of you were irritated by all of them and really hoped no one thought any of them were you, especially whoever sent you this?
How many of you went “Stereoypes! Enough with the stereotyping of men! Quit putting us in boxes!”
How about wondering just who was supposed to be watching this, especially when it got to the last two?
How many of you think that the quality of content on The Good Men Project is going way down, as evidenced by videos like this with titles with numbers in them?
See, there are as many ways to approach our media as there are people who consume it.
For some, a video bouncing around the internet is a couple of minutes of escapist humor.
It might be a reflection of exactly what they see and experience every day, positive or negative. We send it on with an LOL or an emoji or a snarky comment.
But it can also be a teaching moment. Did anyone notice the Asian voice by the “Life of the Party”? Check out the ages and bodies. What do you see…or not. Could the same video be made about another group of people, and how would that typing be received? Maybe it’s right on the mark of everything you think is right, or what needs to change.
What did you forward today?
