Today was a day when the Snake Eagles and Black Kites decided to make the perilous sea crossing to Africa.
–––
Small groups were seen spiraling higher and higher on the thermals, before starting the long gliding decent to the African mountains simmering in the far distant haze.
As the wind moved through to the south, a few of these great aerial hunters could be seen turning volte face and returning to familiar shores.
Their deep avian intelligence realizes that with the wind against them, this already dangerous journey may well be their last.
So they return to wait on more favorable winds and for a while they will grace me with their beauty and power on this side of the continental divide.
