Not sure what to eat for good health? Find out what foods will keep you ahead of the curve.
DEAR DR. AUSTIN: Are there any particular foods that men should be eating in order to maintain good health? — IN GOOD HEALTH
DEAR IN GOOD HEALTH: G.I.G.O. Good in, Good out. Garbage in, Garbage out. That’s the nutritional advice that always made the most sense for me. If you fill your temple with garbage and neglect it, it will crumble. A simple exercise to do when you are out to eat is to take a moment to look around. If the people eating around you look like what you want to look like, then you are in the right place. If not, then choose another restaurant! If you live in a city, find healthier dining options and natural markets. If you live in the country, start growing veggies or find a farming co-op to get sustainably grown healthy foods.
As for specific foods, we all need more Omega 3’s, ideally from wild fish. Omega 3’s help to stimulate brain growth and function. Also consider getting Vitamin D into your system for immune function. Try to start your morning off with a tall glass of warm water with a couple teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. This will help to regulate digestion and body function. Avoid processed foods, refined sugars and anything that is a color not found naturally in nature. In order to ensure that your body is capable of absorbing all of the amazing nutrients that you are now putting in your body, it’s important to see your Chiropractor. Chiropractic will keep the nerves that innervate your digestive tract free of interference and help turn your food into fuel for the body and mind. The time to make dietary changes is right now. Your body will thank you.
