This is life in the 21st century right? You can do pretty much what you want, as long as you are not hurting anyone, right? You can blindfold yourself, rock out on an elliptical machine and not worry about whether people think you are a “real man”, airquotes included.

I may have an answer for you. Your ability to balance comes from a combination of three things: 1) your eyes 2) your cerebellum (base of the brain) 3) joint position sense (special receptors in your joints to give information on where each joint is in relation to one another) If any one of these three is not working well your body will rely on the others to pull up the slack.
