Singer and songwriter Ric Elias was in seat 1D on the U.S. Airways plane that belly-flopped into the Hudson. As the moment of truth approached, he remembered his most important job in life.

As Flight 1549 plunged toward the Hudson River and Ric Elias braced for impact, he learned three lessons that have changed the way he lives—one about time, one about attitude, and one about his greatest responsibility and his greatest joy.
I no longer want to postpone anything in life.
I regretted the time I wasted in things that did not matter with people that mattered …. I decided to eliminate negative energy from my life …. I’m no longer trying to be right. I choose to be happy.
The only thing that matters in my life is being a great dad.
Ric closes by saying, “I was given another gift, which was to be able to see into the future and come back and live differently.” We can all benefit from his window into wisdom.
