Raising Boys Editor, Marie Roker-Jones is calling on guys, 14-17 years old, to talk about what it means to be a teen in the 21st Century.
–
At the Good Men Project, we have impactful conversations about what it means to be a man in the 21st Century. However, the missing piece is the voice of 14-17 year old teen guys.
As the Editor of the Raising Boys section, I’m inviting you to join our conversation. We’ve created this safe space for you to express yourself and share your story.
This is more than a call for submission, it’s an opportunity for you to tell your parents and adults in general what you need them to know.
Don’t think of this as a school assignment, instead it’s a way for you to share your story and express your feelings and thoughts.
Share your thoughts in a post or video on any of the following:
- What assumptions are we making about you?
- What are the pressures in your life?
- What do adults need to understand about your life?
- What do you need from your parents, teachers, coaches , etc
- What are your thoughts about “hooking up?”
- What are your thoughts on the friend zone?
- How do you handle rejection or someone hurting your feelings?
- What makes you angry?
- What makes you happy?
- What are you scared of?
- What makes you excited about your future?
- When is the “guy code” unfair?
- Have you ever been discriminated against?
- How are teen guys portrayed in the media?
-
What is your relationship like with your father? mother? what would make each or both better?
-
Do you feel understood and supported at home?
-
If you could say anything to your parent/s what would that be?
-
Would you like your parent’s to be more friends or more parents?
-
What are you passionate about and are you pursuing your passion?
-
Do you think grownups are doing a good job running things? What would you do differently?
-
What would you like improved about your school and how you are being taught?
Talk to us about topics that are important to you such as: Sports, school, puberty, video gaming, dating/relationships, peer pressure, friendship, masculinity, social media, bullying, LGBT
Send your submission to [email protected]
We want to know what matters to you. We want your voice heard.
