The team behind the design agency Culture Pilot shares their strategy for growing a community of creatives in Houston, TX, and talks about organizing TEDxHouston.

How does a team of 20-somethings create a new community of creatives in one of the biggest cities in the US? Javier Fadul, Tim DeSilva, and Kara Gray, the folks behind Culture Pilot (www.culturepilot.com), have been organizing new spaces and experiences for creative people in Houston, TX to connect, share, and grow. About 5 years ago, they organized the first TEDxHouston, which featured Brene Brown’s famous TED talk “The Power of Vulnerability,” and they’ve been organizing the yearly event ever since.
I had a chance to connect with them and asked them about their work, the challenges behind growing a new community, and what it’s like to organize TEDxHouston every year.
