Glinda–Oz’s resident “good witch”–encounters a Kansas tow-truck driver. Imagine the possibilities.

Glinda Meets the Tow-Truck Driver
His hook and reel
remind her of the lion’s paws
against flowerpots —
seems like overkill
to hoist the jalopy up
and angle it back home,
but perhaps he was acquainted
with the tornado driver,
may have known the tilt-
a-whirl girl intimately,
gotten his view of the world
by looking at it sidelong,
the way he was now looking
at her. She liked to drift
into gazes, plucked her
courage from the knowledge
that she was prettier in profile.
She thought heels efficient,
she thought his grease stains
would slick things along,
she thought maybe extra time
here in Kansas, gaining
momentum, maybe, after all,
a little grime wouldn’t hurt anyone.
