Bernie can take his seat at that table. It is a good seat. But he has to do it now. Let’s #HarnessTheBern

Dear Bernie,
You did a great job.
You galvanized a young generation of voters.
You helped change the dialogue to one of fairness.
You helped us to Think Different.
Now it’s time to be a mensch.
What’s at stake is everything.
We all have to row together in the same canoe.
I’m With Her are winning words.
Please be a mensch.
Love,
Those who need you.

Author’s Postscript:
If we step out of campaign mode, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton really aren’t that far apart on the key issues that change our lives. They both share a core set of humanistic values and so do their constituents. Bringing us together will accomplish way more of the Progressive Agendathan an artificial wall.
We can continue to build upon the legacy of President Obama if we unite. Our commonality is way beyond our differences.
Bernie is going to join the Clinton campaign, I’m certain of that – the question is when and how ardently. None of his critical concerns will be ignored if he takes his seat at the table. He has earned that seat. It’s a good seat. He has to RSVP sooner rather than later because every minute counts now. He has to make that choice. I have faith he will do the right thing. Then Bernie can still be Bernie.
It begins. Onto November.

Despite this being the day Sanders supporters dreaded his fans are as supportive as ever. Bernie Sanders is indexing at 56% positive today in social media, 1 point higher than his 90 day average of 55% positive, which by the way dwarfs both Hillary and Trump whose 90 day positives are tied at 42%. — Howard K. 360db

Thank you, Bernie. You are indeed a mensch. You have always been a mensch. The world is a better place because you are in it. We need your voice forever. Mazel Tov!
Ken, I was confused by your use of the word “mensch” as the context seems to mean good person, which is what I have believed the definition of mensch to be. But by saying “Be a mensch,” aren’t you saying Bernie is not currently being a person of integrity? I believe he absolutely IS being a person of integrity and has been all along, far more than can be said of Hilary. A person of integrity would not claim victory before the California votes are counted. Bernie isn’t done, nor are his supporters. If Hilary had been a mensch from… Read more »
Hi Lisa, Bernie is absolutely a person of integrity. He is a mensch. He has a life of good works and deeds behind him and in front of him. I am a fan, an admirer, and I know how valuable he will continue to be to Progressive politics, no matter what, from now until forever. My belief is that we now need to be completely together. If people disagree, I respect that as well, but I am working toward unity now with those who want to join forces and expose the falsehood behind any Trump legitimacy. To me now that… Read more »
Well said PopeJamal.
Absolutely disgrace how this election has been conducted by the media. I was appalled that Clinton said she was the Democratic nominee before California had voted. Not a good way to get Bernie supporters to vote for her.
Nothing will change under Clinton which is exactly what the establishment wants.
Maybe I’m an optimist, but I hope Ms. Clinton will surprise everyone and take national health care to the next level, as was her passion when she was First Lady. I’m counting on her to be brave and bold as President. She’s waited a long time for her chance. I don’t think she’ll waste the opportunity to make her mark.
From all reports, the real ones that liberal media aren’t reporting, The AHA is broken and getting worse on all levels. Once can’t take something to another level when it’s broken. It has to be fixed first. “Ms” Clinton” Really? Do you have a problem with “Mrs?”
Hillary is probably just as much of a true progressive as her husband was, which is to say, not much at all: http://thefederalist.com/2014/07/07/americans-love-their-conservative-presidents/ I’m not sure what “progressive agenda” you’re talking about, but I’m not going to be holding my breath waiting for Clinton to do anything about Campaign Finance Reform, Single Payer Health Care, or the criminals on Wallstreet doing everything within their power to destroy our economy by sucking it dry like a huge vampire squid. Bernie or Bust. I’ll vote for anyone else before I vote for “Business as Usual” Clinton or “Sociopath” Trump or the usual… Read more »
I’m sorry you feel that way about sharing the Progressive Agenda, where I believe Sanders and Clinton both have much to offer. I also think if you knew me or my work better, you’d know my life has very little to do with preserving the status quo. We have much work to do together to heal and go forward. It won’t all be perfect, but hopefully we can move collaboratively in a positive direction. Realistically I think that’s the most we can expect from political leaders. Compassion matters, and I believe small bits of action will add up to substantive… Read more »
“We have much work to do together to heal and go forward.” We’ve had 8 years of Obama, are you saying that things have gotten worse?
Tom, the economic and social progress we’ve made under President Obama these past eight years is in my mind inarguable. If you don’t agree there is nothing I can write that will change your mind. Our mission to heal the world is spiritual and perpetual. It’s called Tikkun Olam. It is unrestricted by measured time. I am completely convinced Ms. Clinton and Mr. Sanders will be valuable leaders in our unending work. I am dedicated to that work, as is The Good Men Project. You don’t have to agree, but we are going forward no matter the criticism or obstacles.
