“The ability to afford proper medical care is very important to me, and being able to assist others who are not as fortunate is something I hope to provide to as many people as possible.” – Duncan Keith
Duncan Keith, a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman for Chicago Blackhawks did one for the best thing an athlete can do – to give their time and their heart to those who needs it. And most recently, made a disabled fan (a young girl named Cammy)’s dream come true.
—Chicago Blackhawks released a heartwarming video showing Keith chatting with Cammy, strapping on her skate, hitting the ice and scoring a goal could melt ice and bring tears into your eyes.

Beside making Cammy’s dream of skating and scoring a goal came true, Keith also made a difference in Chicago community through his charity, Keith Relief.
After experiencing firsthand the challenges that medical procedures can present, Keith and his wife Kelly-Rae made it their mission to alleviate some of the financial and emotional burdens of families and individuals during times of medical crisis:
“Duncan and I are dedicated to helping those who don’t have access to proper health care. When we learned about the increasing amount of bankruptcies and home foreclosures resulting from high medical expenses and lack of health insurance, we wanted to find a want to make things better for Chicago families in need.”
– Kelly-Rae Keith
Keith and his wife, through their foundation, sponsors an entire floor, a special transplant floor which is dedicated to pediatric transplant patients and their families at Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s.
Keith has indeed applied the core values of hockey – commitment, perseverance, and teamwork – to enrich the lives of people in his community.
