A son’s artistic tribute to his father’s influence.
–––
When I was a little kid, my Pop had this little book of Hiroshige’s art which always fascinated me. As I grew older, I learned a bit more about Japanese print makers, and the most famous of all of these prints “Great Wave off Kanagawa” by Hokusai, from his series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.
I could feel the cold ocean water and, hear the sound of the waves crashing around me. It was the first piece of art to have an emotional impact on me (besides loony tunes, of course).
My Pop died a few years back. In thinking about him, I was reminded of his love of Hiroshige and Hokusai.
Yeah, I am not near their genius, just trying to pay a little tribute to those I love.
