Take note 18-24 year olds, the Guyhood section has returned. Help The Good Men Project define your experience.
—
Guyhood. That special time in a young man’s life that begins with his right to vote and concludes just before he can rent any car he pleases without excessive surcharges. When a young man is told by sociologists that he is an adult but by neurologists that his prefrontal cortex will not reach adulthood until Guyhood concludes.
Of course, saying 18-24 defines Guyhood is arbitrary, but for the purposes of our discussion, just go with it.
The Guyhood section was on hiatus for several months, but now we have relaunched and seek contributors to examine, critique, reflect upon, define, (insert synonymous verb here) the Guyhood experience. All perspectives are welcome. Whether you are on the cusp, in the middle, just removed, or far removed from this demographic. Whether you are male or female. If you can inform and enlighten our audience about these developmentally critical years, we want your contributions.
Periodically, we will promote a Call for Submissions regarding specific topics. That never restricts a good idea, though, from seeing the electronically printed page. As the USPS says, “If it fits, it ships.” If it fits the Guyhood and The Good Men Project message, we will work together to figuratively ship it to our audience.
Our first Call for Submissions will occur … now.
Call for Submissions
Ages 18, 20, and 21 get all the publicity. Young men are granted many societal privileges at age 18. Age 20 officially designates your graduation from the teenage years. And 21, well, you know.
Poor 19, 22, 23, and 24. They need attention, too.
- What defines these ages?
- What subtle milestones or realizations are reached?
- Where are your present and future thoughts focused?
- Looking back, what do you wish you knew at that age?
- Looking forward, what do you hope someone teaches you before you reach that age?
Please forward ideas, drafts, or contributions to [email protected].
Thank you in advance for your support of The Good Men Project!
