After the storm, the jetsam of the ecology lies strewn across the Dehesa.
–––
One of the mighty oaks was snapped in two by the ferocity of the winds.
This old tree could no longer bend before the great Levante, riddled as it was with fungus and rot.
So now it lies supine to the ecology as it offers itself up to the decayers and the burrowers.
Over the next twenty years, this great trunk will slowly return to the soil from whence it sprang.
Perhaps this spot of sweet silvan nourishment will prove to be the nursery for the next forest giant.
So the wheel turns and life continues in this place.
