Cam Newton plays well in “position of power” and that’s “rubbing people the wrong way.”

TYT Sports Jason Rubin, Francis Maxwell, and Jayar Jackson explain the internet buzz surrounding Cam Newton’s comment saying,
“I’m an African-American quarterback that scares people because they haven’t seen nothing that they can compare me to.”
Newton’s Carolina Panthers are playing the Denver Broncos at this year’s Super Bowl so every major sports outlet also reacted to what he said.
In their commentary, Maxwell points out that Newton is, “Redefining his position.” And as Quarterback, he’s coming from a “Position of power” which is what’s “Rubbing people the wrong way.” Maxwell adds that Newton executes his plays well, “He’s doing it and he’s doing it better than other people,” calling Newton the “Best QB at the moment.” Perhaps it’s this success that’s making people angry.
The panel also tackles the issue of race in football arguing that players like, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Rodgers have evaded negative remarks but an athlete like, Richard Sherman gets painted in a bad light.

Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson anyone? Cam gets heat because of his scandals; getting kicked off the team at FL, the bidding war around his signing with Auburn, and now, the petulant one-word answers at the post game press conference. Panther fans love Cam because of his connection with fans, pyrotechnic play and win / loss record so unless the city of Charlotte is magically immune to racism the root cause of Cam’s polarization isnt going to be race. You can judge people by their actions, their race or you can accuse people who judge others by their actions of… Read more »
Denver sure as he wasn’t.
I have no idea what the purpose of this article is. Here in Minnesota we have teddy Bridgewater and he’s already become a fanfan favorite. Color has no place with merit. On or off the field of athletic .

Compare Newton to Russell Wilson. I haven’t seen many negative comments about Wilson. Not saying racism isn’t a problem, but this particular assertion is silly.
