Are men and women opposite sides of a coin, or are the stereotypes outdated?
—
When a friend showed me the YouTube series “The Flip Side,” written and directed by Jay Diaz, I laughed hysterically as I watched all of the episodes in one binge sitting. I shared it on Facebook, forwarded it to friends, and showed it to guys I dated.
Now I write for The Good Men Project (in case you hadn’t figured that out yet), and this conversation about what it means to be a man in the 21st Century has me thinking more deeply about this simple comedy. It does ring true for me on many levels, not many writers get is ALL right ALL of the time, and I am all for letting comedy be comedy.
What do you think? Which variations are missed? How would you frame something like this differently? Or did Jay really just make it all work?
