What decisions can you make today that can improve the lives of others in the world?
–
When something bad happens, we talk about all the things we’re going to do differently in life. We make promises we have no intentions of keeping. We are temporarily more loving, more patient, more understanding.
In time, that compassion wears off and we go back to our old ways. We ignore people in need, we neglect our responsibilities, and we let chaos and anger back into our homes. But when something happens that affects us personally, we tend to look and with regret on the all the things we didn’t do. As we approach the holidays and the end of the year, we have daily opportunities to create small and impactful changes in our lives and the world.
One of the best gifts we can give to ourselves and others is compassion. Imagine how powerful our children would be if we made compassion a priority. What if we were examples of compassion for our children? What if we could be vessels of peace and compassion for others and the world?
Just for today, think about how much we could change the world if we make the choice:
To be loving
To be fair
To be kind
To say “I love you”
To give a hug
To live our dreams
To share a smile
To listen with love
To spend quality time
To have a better attitude
To be patient
To love unconditionally
To create memories
To offer a kind word
To see the beauty in the world
To lend a hand to those in need
To forgive
To be forgiven
To laugh and play more
To show compassion
To make our loved ones a priority
Why not start today and live it everyday?
