A young girl’s life is turned upside down by the chaos and loss of war in a “one second a day” video.
In an effort to raise awareness about Syrian child refugees, the folks at SavetheChildren.org have created a video in which a young girl plunges from an idyllic childhood into the chaos and loss of war in a “one second a day” video. The result is a chilling reminder that war isn’t just about men and women in uniform. It’s about the hundreds of thousands of children who end up as collateral damage.
Perhaps you will recognize the your own child in this young girl. She is your average little English girl caught up in a fictional European war. But the message is clear. It could be happening to any of us. And it’s chilling to watch this depiction of just how quickly the beauty and joy of childhood can be lost. Is being lost right now, all across Syria, and other war zones, as the children there face the horrors of endless war. The point of the ad is simple.
“Just because it isn’t happening here doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.”
