I am often puzzled when I see a rookie mom or group of mothers in a park playing with their young children while wearing high heels, donning a designer bag, and refusing to wind their long, lovely locks into a hair tie even when the breeze keeps many strands clinging to their lip gloss. Sometimes I see fathers in loafers and button downs frantically sending texts or emails on the latest model phone. I suppose there must be some type of covert competition in which they battle, but I know something they do not realize I know: if you are a “mommy” or a “daddy” you run on the same track as me. Young children look to caretakers for guidance, but often what we learn in return is priceless…..
