Such a simple word, and yet so much behind it.

It seems such a simple four letter word, love, L-O-V-E. See! Its so easy to say, no difficulty in pronunciation. People say it all the time. It’s “”tossed” out to people. The word has become so common that a recent study by Harvard found “Love” is the second most used word in the world. The first is Facebook.
However simple it may seem and however common it might have become, Love’s prowess cannot and should not be undermined. Love contains a tinge of joy, an essence of happiness, and an abyss of feelings which come gushing towards the person who listens, says, reads, and feels Love. A plethora of memories, feelings, pictures, and names come hurtling towards anyone who hears the word “Love” mentioned.
Love engulfs the person, like a table beset with all the delicacies in the world would nonplus a glutton were it to suddenly appear in front of him. These delicacies can harm the glutton in an unforeseeable manner which he cannot predict or simply does not care. As such, the reality of love is quite different from what we perceive it to be.
From our infancy, we associate love with a positive feeling.
Why shouldn’t we? From the day we are born, we listen to how much our parents, our grandparents, aunts, and uncles love us!. It has to be a good word, a word which can bring only happiness, nothing else. But is that true? I am afraid not. As we enter our teens, we start to realize that love is not as simple as it seems. There are many hidden aspects.
Just like gravity is a law of nature, falling in love is the law of….beings!
|
We sooner, rather than later, fall for someone. Love is like gravity, it pulls you towards the other person. Trying to resist the pull is more difficult than it sounds. Just like gravity is a law of nature, falling in love is the law of….beings! Following the irresistible falling in love comes the heart-breaks, the rejections, the break-ups, the cheating, and the worst — “The Games.” The word which was analogous to happiness suddenly changes in meaning, completely.
Heart breaks, rejections, mutual break-ups are like small cuts. They make you feel the pain for sometime but they heal. It’s the cheating and the games which are not for the light hearted. They void you of all emotions, detach you from the people around you, and make you insecure. Some boys become playboys and some girls become masters in the art of games (though their numbers are in the minority.) They don’t really mean love when they say they the word. They are present because of money, or maybe your extreme good looks, or maybe you are just good for their image, or maybe just for fun. They give unseen scars to the other person, sometimes for life. The fact is this small group brings ill repute to the magical word “Love.”
Is Love really any magical?
If you think the answer is yes, I am afraid to tell you that you are wrong. Love is just a word. Love has lost all its charm and magic nowadays. The notion of being “Together Forever in Love” has long been forgotten. Look around you: divorces, break ups, “oops sorry it was a mistake”, “oh, no I don’t love you like that”, “I don’t love you anymore”, physical attraction being called love, and I could go on. The facts are all around to see.
The solution?
Love comes when it should and leaves when it must.
|
There isn’t any! Love is like gravity, remember? You have to fall! When love leaves, tell it not to close the door behind it, because that’s the reality of love. Love comes when it should and leaves when it must.
For those of you who haven’t fallen in love yet, I seize this opportunity to remind you of a phrase by Hitler-
“Between love and war I will choose war, because in war either you live or you die but, in love you neither live, nor you die”.
For those who have fallen into Love’s trap, may the mass times acceleration (a.k.a. The Force) be with you.
