This Fox News commentary puts the whole Ebola story in context. This is some of the most responsible reporting/commentary by any news organization anywhere.

I never thought I’d say this but, DAMN, Fox News gets it right. This three minute commentary on Ebola is the single most responsible and remarkable thing I have seen on TV news in years. Amazing.
All though we have no ebola outbreak in the US currently, it is our moral duty to help the people of Africa in every way we can. And if you aren’t feeling inclined to help others in need, then think of it this way. It is in our best interest to fight ebola there, if we don’t want to fight it here.

with three nurses becoming infected, on the boston globe site ive read about healthcare workers concerns that they have been undertrained and illprepared to handle ebola Kelly-Williams, a nurse at Cambridge Health Alliance, said nurses across the state have told her that their only training has been an e-mail guiding them to a US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website. And she said nurses report that most hospitals do not have hazmat suits and respirators to protect those caring for an Ebola patient. The Massachusetts Hospital Association asserted in a statement Wednesday that the state’s hospitals, with guidance from… Read more »
Yes, this is a good piece on ebola in the US, but the clip fail to mention anything about the actual disaster that is still developing. I am disappointed in The Good Men Project for channeling a clip with a focus on the west without any mention of the actual disaster.
The fear that ebola spreads in the US might be without basis, but that fear is real in Monrovia. That fear makes parents leave children on the doorstep of hospitals when they develop a fever.

You make a very good point, Mikeal. I’ve modified the post.
Let’s not underestimate the value of panic. A little panic and over caution in the beginning of this pandemic may have saved the thousands of lives we are about to lose.
Ebola is verv difficult to contract. There won’t be thousands of deaths in the USA. I would say there wil be less than 25 cases in US and most likely only 4 or 5 deaths.
I don’t know why you US folk get so worked up about a virus. It’s not like it’s the Hendra virus we have here in Queensland Australia. Ebola is fairly non-lethal with only a 50% mortality rate, hardly even worth a mention. Not only that Ebola is hard to catch, it’s not like it’s spread by the local flying foxes.
Australia – The only things not trying to kill us are volcanoes.
It’s now 70.8% mortality rate. Keep in mind that trained medical personnel have been infected after taking the necessary safety precautions apparently.
I wish I shared your optimistic view of why Fox is changing their tune…But I believe Fox News’ handlers finally realized that healthcare related panic is going to be bad for the assholes that continuously disrupt and de-fund anything to do with providing Americans with access to modern healthcare during the upcoming elections…
Oh, I don’t mean to imply they’ve changed their tune. This is just one remarkable commentary. No more, no less.
OK. Crap. I concede. They got it exactly right. This doesn’t count towards them being balanced yet though…. long way to haul for that.
Hey, even a STOPPED clock is right twice a day…. 😉
