GMP invites you to participate in a multi-media experience where you can share anything you want with your younger self.
____
Do you have a childhood moment that stands out in your mind? Do you remember the greatest fear you had? Your first crush? Your first broken heart? Coming out? Perhaps you remember the loss of your first pet or first family member.
Perhaps an unimaginable experience is flashing before your eyes as you read this.
Maybe you remember your first time at bat or the first time you were affected by national or world news. You might recall your first friend, a scuffle on the playground, or the hardest test you ever took. Maybe you remember your first dream come true or your deepest disappointment.
At those times, you didn’t know that you were building the cornerstones of your life but you know that now.

If you could go back to your younger self and tell him something, anything, what would you say?
If you could write a letter to your younger self, what would you share?
Are you a man of few words? What would you tweet?
Are you comfortable in front of a video screen and wish to speak directly to your younger self?
Maybe you have one simple image that would say everything to your younger self that you’d want to.

The Good Men Project invites you to join us in a multi-media experience. We invite you to choose the expression most comfortable for you and submit your message to your younger self.
Wish to write a letter? Submit your letter to Heather Gray at [email protected] and it might be featured on our site. Feel free to include a picture of your younger self, too!
Prefer to tweet? Stay tuned. We’re going to be tweeting out “If you could tweet one thing to your younger self, what would it be?” Tweet @goodmenproject using #GMPTB with your responses. We’ll be featuring your tweets in multi-media presentations.
Want the artistic expression and instant satisfaction of Instagram? Find us there at GoodMenProject and share your pictorial message using #GMPTB.
Looking to speak directly to your younger self on video? We invite you to share a video message. You can send your .mp4 or .mov to [email protected]. If you’d like to be a part of a multi-contributor video but don’t have video capabilities, please send in a still photo of yourself holding a younger photo of yourself and we will create artwork from that. Email Lisa with any questions or concerns.
Not old enough to have a younger self? Write a letter to yourself in the future, and send it to Scott Heydt, Senior Editor of the GMP Guyhood section, at scott
You’re also welcome, of course, to share your comments and thoughts below in our comment section.

We look forward to learning from, laughing with, and joining with your important messages. No doubt the message you share today will help a young man experiencing that very thing.

If I could send a message to my 14-year-old self, I wouldn’t have much to say, just: “It’s depression. I know you can’t remember ever feeling any different, but it’s not normal. Life isn’t supposed to be so hard. See a counselor. They can help.”
You have a voice worthy of consideration through written, spoken and musical means. Express!
Wow, one to contemplate for sure. Avoid that crazy brunette, floss everyday and your father was right most of the time.
“You know that feeling of shame, insecurity, and anger you’re holding onto? It’s OK that you’re feeling this way. It’s just a feeling. Feel it fully and know that within you is a bright and brilliant light ready, willing, and able to shine! Now go for it young Darren!!!! You’re beautiful, strong, and capable of greatness. Failure is only failure if you believe it. Don’t believe it! Look at the perceived failures of your life as feedback. Stand up tall and learn from the stress you’re facing. Trust your heart and follow your passion each and every step of the… Read more »
Look and you’ll see that it is always NOW. Relax! You are perfectly led.
What we all really are is changeless and beautiful beyond words.
True love is joyful and doesn’t need anything. You’ll know it that way.
Oh, and you really are gonna want those piano lessons!
Smiles,
Your Future Self
P.S. There is only ONE self.
Honor those with the courage to walk their own path, and if you must mock someone, mock yourself for being afraid to follow their example
I like to tell myself
“It’s not my fault, they have no right”
ENDANGERED BY ADULTS….
TELL SOMEONE THAT YOU ARE BEING ENDANGERED ADULTS…
One of the most important lies that society throws out is that women are either non-sexual or are super sexual. Society acts as if women are one extreme or the other. It is important to understand this lie and its ramifications on women. Women suffer because of this lie. They feel that their feelings and desires are wrong because they don’t fit into either extreme. No one does!!! The vast majority of people are in the middle somewhere. It is also important how this will impact the particular woman you are dating. She will likely be very confused; she will… Read more »
Fantastic, I will definitely send in a contribution! Just a quick overview: Ignore absolutely everything that society tells you about women! Everything! Stop worrying about your appearance: the women who are attracted to you will be attracted to you. Stop worrying about skills, because skills can be learned and refined over time. Pay attention to your character, because that is what people actually care about. Live in the now. Women are people, not objects. If you like a girl, approach her with the goal of talking to her. Know that she may say no, and she has the right to.… Read more »
I do hope to see a contribution from you, Richard. You have some incredibly important things to say.

Interesting proposition.
Give it some thought and get back to us! We’d love to hear from you.
