A man in the middle of loss finds love and pours all of his heart into singing about salvation.
–––
The Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl penned this tune at the height of personal loss. Loss of relationship, potential loss of band and career. In essence, a loss of self and identity. Somewhere in all that emotional confusion, Dave tapped into some serious expression of deep man emotion. Maybe we can breath in and out with Dave on this song and feel Everlong a little evermore. Those hard rock power chords aren’t aggression, they are the passion of man emotion!
p.s. We are aware of the cheesy 1990s punk revival nature of the story in the video, but the visual story telling, regardless of how B-rate, still conveys the power of being so ONE with another person that the dream world and real world merge. (plus bonus gender f**K)
Everlong
Dave Grohl
Hello
I’ve waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight I throw myself in two
Out of the red
Out of her head she sang
Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow, how you wanted it to be
I’m over my head
Out of her head she sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I’ll ever ask of you
You’ve got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Breathe out
So I can breathe you in
Hold you in
And now
I know you’ve always been
Out of your head
Out of my head I sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I’ll ever ask of you
You’ve got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I’ll ever ask of you
You’ve got to promise not to stop when I say when
