Not into this. Someone asking a baby’s sex isn’t inquiring into it’s eventual gender identity, nor are they belittling the potential complexities or that gender identity. The one place I see your point is that the individual asking the question could potentially use the answer to make generalizations about the parent’s experience – such as “oh, excited for football?” if it’s a boy. This assumption neglects that the child may be into more academic pursuits or a couch potato.
