The number of former NFL players facing serious medical issues later in life is reaching an alarming rate.

On Tuesday, a lawsuit was filed and signed by over 400 former players, who are accusing the league of illegally prescribing painkillers to mask various injuries and ailments, according to NBC Sports.
The suit claims that team doctors all across the league were not only not reporting injuries like broken bones and necks, but were feeding players prescription pills to mask their injuries and get them back to the field quicker to maximize profits.
Among former players looking for a settlement are former quarterback, Jim McMahon, and Hall of Fame defensive end, Richard Dent.
While this is nothing new to the league, the group of plaintiffs is finally taking a stand and seeking to not only be compensated but to raise awareness and a call for change.
They will now need to prove that doctors illegally prescribed them painkillers and failed to inform them of injuries that occurred decades ago. We’ll have more information on this story once more details are made available.

So we’re to believe that these players were popping pills the trainers and medical staffs of their teams were giving them without asking what they were or what they were for? We’re to believe the players had injuries they weren’t aware of? How about taking some responsibility for what you put into your body? Were the players strapped into chairs and force-fed these pills?
