Why become a Premium Member of The Good Men Project? Disabled men are still men at their core. It’s time to include them in the conversation.

Music legend Bob Marley once said, “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.”
While wealth can be defined in many ways, the ability to be inclusive and well-rounded goes hand-in-hand with what one does with an abundance of one or more things. Thus, defining an individual’s ability to succeed and thrive—regardless of their race, age or even disability.

The primary focus and purpose of The Good Men Project is built on these ideals. We work to ensure that our premium content is for everyone, of any ability or disability. By the same token, we also take a valued interest in how one pays their abilities forward and uses them for the betterment of society.
In fact, it’s been proven time and time again that modern society leads by example—and we at GMP strive to provide examples for men of today to take with them long after they’ve visited our website.
That being said, we utilize all of these principles to bring our readers the best quality material that engages them—not just provides them with cold, hard facts. It’s a leap of faith which has allowed us to step out of The Man Box and look at manhood (as well as the topics and issues that surround it) with fresh, new eyes.

In 2012, GMP integrated a number of disability issues and topics into our diverse platform. It was an important first for us, as many of the issues covered had long been kept in the dark or hadn’t been written about from a personal perspective. It also served as a reminder of exactly why GMP aims to include everyone.
Since this integration, our audience has engaged in a vital part of our growing conversation about modern masculinity and manhood. Again, it’s a part of the conversation that has rarely been brought to light in a diverse, inclusive and humanizing manner. It lets the common man know that they perhaps weren’t wrong or misled in believing the sky is the limit—because they can now read stories about how disabilities can be used as tools to overcome insurmountable odds.
GMP is proud to provide an additional platform for all to think about disability and manhood, how they coincide and how YOU can be a better husband, father or partner as a result of how you balance the two. Most importantly, it adds another to GMP’s ever present question, “What’s it mean to be a good man?”
♦◊♦
The answer to that question may be found in between the lines of a story—or deep within the soul of a husband, father, son or even a friend, who perhaps suffered an injury on the front lines and is now living with a disability.
By browsing the posts on our site and becoming a Premium Member of GMP, you’ll see why we all need to continue to push the envelope in regarding disability as a social justice issue—and why we need to make more room for disabled men in The Man Box.
If we’re not willing to give disabled men the voice they so richly deserve, what kind of example are we setting for society right now? Better yet, what kind of example would we be setting for the boys and sons who came before those men?
